Leslie "Lulu" Sherman’s artistic journey is a heartfelt exploration of identity, profoundly shaped by her roots in the vibrant tapestry of New Orleans. Growing up amidst the rich cultural influences and stories of her ancestors, one of whom was a renowned portrait artist, she feels a deep connection to the past.

 

As an honors graduate of Tisch School of the Arts, Leslie channeled her passion for storytelling into a decade-long career as an award-winning director and screenwriter in New York, San Francisco, London, and Los Angeles. This multifaceted experience feeds her artistry today, as she immerses herself in the lives and emotions of her subjects.

 

Through her hyperrealistic portraiture, Leslie strives to transcend mere representation, aiming to capture the soul of each individual. Her drawings pulse with life, filled with intricate details that invite viewers into a dialogue with the spirit of her subjects. Each piece is not just a portrait but a celebration of humanity, a testament to the beauty and complexity of every story she encounters.
